Abstract

Investigatory level (IL) of skid resistance of asphalt surfaces indicates a high level of skid resistance where the skid resistance is considered satisfactory. Threshold Level (TL) is minimum or lower values require careful evaluation of the complex process. Involves special machines such as SCRIM and Grip Tester field measuring devices, as well as various data gathering softwares and collecting datas. Site Category (SC) is determined on the basis of wide range of features, type of road, geometric design and as well as other special features. This paper only deals with the Investigatory Level (IL) that is currently suitable for use in Iranian conditions and provides an illustrated guide to various road situations for engineers and practitioners to use. This measure is not, of course by any means economic measure In long sections at all, since it considers the upper limit of skid resistance. Applying the Investigatory level in areas where micro texture is lost by traffic action, especially near pedestrian crossings, roundabots, and intersections can prevent many accidents in these sensitive areas.
