Abstract

Accidents in Iran, according to published statistics, are about twenty times the death rate more than twice the global average of 20 per 100,000. This shocking statistic is enough to rethink the attitude to accidents and the aftermath and consider this important in macro planning. The research is applied in terms of purpose and in terms of quantitative-analytical method. After collecting fatality data of Fars province suburban accidents during three consecutive years (2015-2016) by Fars Provincial Forensic Medicine Organization to investigate the significant relationship between the five components of gender, age, marital status, education and occupation by number of deaths. The fatalities in the crashes were analyzed using the unilabiate X2 analytical method. Findings showed that male (around 80%), married (around 58%), non-educated (around 21%), young (around 24%), and freelance travelers (around 32%) had a higher share of fatalities than other suburban travelers in Fars province. This deems a greater focus on targeted education for these groups.
