Abstract
One of the important and infrastructural components of a road is asphalt pavement, and considering the importance of the path in the country's road transport network, it must have favorable and standard conditions so that attractive travel can be provided during the service by providing traffic security. In different countries, a lot of development budgets are spent annually on the design and implementation of asphalt pavement projects. Over time, and under the influence of various factors, asphalt pavements are damaged and destroyed. Asphalt pavement defects due to the development of cracks, surface deformations, formation of holes and surface defects mean a reduction in their service life. Correct interpretation of the cause or reasons for defects and failures of asphalt pavements is important in choosing the most appropriate maintenance or repair methods, as well as for designing new pavements. Identifying the cause of defects and failures of asphalt pavements is not easy, because they are related to various factors. In this paper, the types of failures and defects of asphalt pavements and their repair methods are discussed.
