Abstract

Correct and principled operation of the urban bus system is a category that has a major contribution to the success or failure of this system.Various factors are effective in planning and operating the urban bus system. One of the most important parameters in this direction is choosing the optimal number of bus stops and scheduling the bus fleet. In this study, an attempt is made to introduce the optimal methodology for selecting the number of stops and also for scheduling the Qazvin bus system. According to the base point and the travel time matrix, and the determining distance, the time of all the dispatches and the arrival time of the buses to the control points are determined and thus the schedule will be completed. The results showed that the number of stops should be reduced from 33 to 25. According to the schedule and economic analysis, the number of buses should be reduced from 17 to 11 in order to provide the optimal situation for the bus organization. Finally, it has been determined that the average distance between stops has increased from 464 meters to 583 meters. As it is known, the number of stops has decreased, but the average distance between stops has increased.By comparing the results of the CM TCRP report with the results of this research and the economic analysis, the correlation coefficient was calculated, which shows that the convergence rate of the results is very favorable and is 99.7%, which shows the adequacy of the presented method.
