Presentation a Mathematical Model of Network Data Envelopment Analysis to Evaluate the Performance of Rail Transport Network

Abstract

One of the most important underlying factors for the development of any country is the existence of an efficient and appropriate network to meet the transportation needs of that country. Rail transport plays an important role in the economic development of a country; therefore, the evaluation of rail performance is one of the important issues in the rail transport industry of the country. The main objective of this research is to determine the appropriate model for assessing the performance of the rail transport network of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The present research is a descriptive-analytical research in terms of applied purpose and as a method of implementation. The statistical population of this research includes the railways of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The network data envelopment analysis has been used to assess the performance of the railway areas. Based on the results obtained in 2014, North East 2 ranked first and in 2015 and 2016, the East region was ranked first. In addition, the average efficiency of areas shows that in the period of 2014-2016 the eastern region had the best performance and the northern region had the worst performance.
