Abstract
The main goal of this research is to evaluating the effectiveness of safety equipment and road furniture on the number and severity of motorcycle accidents in Tehran. The method of the research is descriptive-analytical and it was carried out using accident analysis and the impact of safety equipment and road furniture on the number and severity of motorcycle accidents in 2022. In the end of this effectiveness evaluation, safety equipment and road furniture were rated on the number and severity of accidents. According to the accident statistics of year 2022 compared to three years before and the analysis, high percentage of casualties of motorcycle accidents is caused by lack of safety equipment such as vehicle restraint systems lighting facilities etc.  The results show the efficacy of the time in numbers and severity on motorcycles accidents in Imam Ali highway, during the night, a high percentage of the accident statistics has shown, which can be due to lack of sufficient visibility and road lighting. The results showed that the use of road safety tools and maintaining the road safety equipment has resulted in a 53.8% reduction in damage accidents, 67.77% injury accidents and 79.5% reduction in death accidents. According to the experts' opinion and hierarchical decision-making method, lighting has the most effect in reducing accidents, and also separators, widening and using speed bumps and shock absorbers are on the next priorities.
